About Risk Management
Risk Management's primary mission is to reduce the frequency and severity of workplace injuries and occupational diseases through safety surveys and analysis, consultation and communication, policy and procedure development, implementation, and training.
Risk Management's secondary mission is to protect the County's real property and other assets through the use of proven risk control techniques, such as the compilation of accurate underwriting information data, exposure avoidance, and deflection/contractual transfer of risk.
Jerry Bower, CWCP, ARM
Jerry possesses over 25 years of experience working within the Ohio Workers' Compensation System and with rehabilitating injured employees. Jerry started working for Franklin County in 1994 as the Safety Coordinator and then was promoted to Risk Manager. He is a Certified Workers' Compensation Professional (CWCP) and possesses an Associate's in Risk Management (ARM) as well as a Bachelor's from The Ohio State University.
Jerry manages Franklin County's Workers' Compensation Program, which covers over 6,600 employees and 35 agencies. He knows the importance of safety in the workplace and Jerry prides himself on the goals that get people to understand, think, change and take action in order to be safe.
Business Service Officer
Jenell joins the Benefits and Risk Management team as the Business Service Officer. Jenell is a 2005 graduate of Central State University with her Bachelor's degree in Accounting. She is a transplant from our sister city of Cincinnati and loves the Bengals. Jenell brings to the Benefits and Risk Management Department 10 years of customer service experience and 8 years specifically in the financial services arena. With Jenell's 8 years of financial experience, she is integral in getting Workers' Compensation claims processed and adjudicated. Jenell is a lively, fun and spirited addition to the Benefits and Risk Management Department. She is customer service oriented and helps employees and their families understand safety and the Workers' Compensation benefit as well as supporting the fiscal aspects of Benefits and Risk Management.
